Mingyuan Jiang

"With previous experiences researching ethnic minority representation in international exhibitions sent out by Chinese museums, conducting fieldwork in Guangxi, and interning in Beijing and Shanghai, I developed a deep interest in how ethnic minorities are portrayed in China’s museums. My current research takes a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to examine the various actors involved and how they negotiate to curate exhibitions in China’s ethnic museums.

I'm excited to draw from theories and methodologies across disciplines in the humanities field, as this will strengthen my research and broaden its relevance within a larger context. I also aspire to network with scholars within and beyond the HRC to enrich my academic journey."

Dan Toua

Dan is an arts worker, curator and writer living and working on Ngunnawal and Ngambri country (Kamberri/Canberra, Australia). Dan is the Gallery Manager and Associate Curator at Canberra Contemporary Art Space and since joining the team in 2019 she has co-curated BLAZE 14 (2020), and curated Australien (2021), Texture (2023) and Places and Spaces (2024).

Dan holds a Bachelor of Arts (International Relations) (2009) from the Australian National University (ANU), as well as a Graduate Diploma in Art History (2015) and a Master of Art Curatorship (2016) from the University of Melbourne. As of 2024 Dan is a PhD candidate at ANU, investigating the Western curation of non-Western art and art objects in national cultural institutions, with the goal of creating a Curatorial Handbook that will aid in sustainable, relevant and sensitive curatorial practices in this area
