Presented by the Humanities Research Centre and Research School of Social Sciences

This intensive one-day workshop will help you to convey your research to scholars, the public and the media. In a small collaborative group you will:

• Develop ways to find your own presentation style and adjust that style for different contexts.
• Learn media techniques to connect with your audience.
• Explore Indigenous practices that are open and valuable to all of us such as Acknowledgements of Country, yarning, speaking from the heart and deep listening.
• Contribute to “how we present” toolkits that will be shared throughout CASS.
   

Importantly, this is an opportunity to practice, share, um, ah, chortle, blather and go blank in a supportive and creative environment. During the workshop you will discuss a concept or topic that you are passionate and informed about and work on transmitting that passion and information to other people and across to other topics.

Six participants (total) from the Research School of Social Sciences and the Research School of Humanities and the Arts will join the facilitator and a consultant for the workshop in an off-campus location. This workshop is open to continuing or fixed term academic staff at any level, A-E.

Facilitator:Kim Huynh, Senior Lecturer from the School of Politics and International Relations, Deputy Director of the Humanities Research Centre, and ABC Radio Canberra presenter.
