ANU College of Law welcomes applications to the first Challenging Words workshop to be held in Canberra on 3-4 November 2016. It may change how you approach the law forever! Engage how you think about—and experience—the law in wholly new and creative ways, together with Professor Zenon Bankowski, renowned legal theorist and pioneer of the innovative Beyond Words workshops in Edinburgh.

This workshop will be the first event of its kind to be held in Australia. We will explore new ways in which the teaching and research of law can transcend its traditional textual resources, challenging and nourishing our imagination and that of our students. By creating art, photography and music, workshop participants will gain new insight into vital questions of law and justice.

With the support of a diverse group of creative academics including Professor Zenon Bankowski, Professor Desmond Manderson, Dr Dorota Gozdecka, Dr James Parker and Dr Luis Gomez Romero, sign up for a two-day adventure with the law. This innovatively designed workshop will help you get in touch with your creative side, and open the door to new methods of legal research and teaching.

Participant numbers are strictly limited to 24. We particularly invite applications from HDR students, and early career researchers in law as well as everyone whose research or teaching could benefit from innovative methods.

Early bird registration fee: Until 30 September, the early bird registration fee is $190, including catering and workshop resources. (Payment is not required until your applications to participate has been approved.)
